    Having never actually had a left and towards me reverse, I’ve always wanted one. I definitely thought the t98 with the right and fwd reverse was a downgrade from the t90 left and forward. I do remember my friends rabbit where first and reverse were seemingly in the same place (left/fwd) you never knew which way it was gonna go from a stop light. ;)

    This should be interesting! I had a ‘94 Cherokee that was similar in function. Could sleep inside 1 person with gear still inside or 2 people inside if I removed the ice chest. It was pretty long in the tooth so I upgraded to a 2010 Silverado crew cab. Hauls more gear, better fuel mileage but sleeping 2 comfortably without unpacking gear is limited to reclining the front seats and passing out. These were not really “wheeling” rigs more like adventuring/hunting vehicles. Look forward to watching your build on this.

      Yup, my F350 with the Flippac feels like a motorhome compared to the JKU. I'm carefully trying to balance off road capability vs camping. The goal is having something that could drive 1000 miles with cruise control and AC to something like the Dusy-Ershim....camp for a week inside on the trail....and then drive back home. I think that is a good benchmark to shoot for.

  • @boostjunky9

    Im planning air rid on my jk so i can run 5 to 6 inchs of travel for cruising and speed and lower it for technical crawling.

      Air springs could be fun for leveling the vehicle when camping.....especially if you could do it from a bluetooth app on your phone while laying in bed.....ha.

    For the windshield why not run a set of the hood windshield bumpers to a pad on the windshield frame? maybe put in a captured nut or something and run something like the TJ door surround knob bolts if you really want to secure it.

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 15 днів тому

      Generally, I don't want to add anything to the A-pillar of the cage that will mess up the lines when the windshield is down. It needs to be compact and clean looking. I've got a few ideas brewing....

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 15 днів тому

      I love my hammock setup when outside, but I don't see the point inside a jeep if you already have a nice flat(ish) place to sleep.

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 15 днів тому

      I've been going wheel-less for many years now. It saves an amazing amount of space because you can use the storage volume inside the tire. A 40" tire is something close to 60 gallons ( ~225 liters ) of storage.

    • @CraigGrunenfelder
      @CraigGrunenfelder 15 днів тому

      @@brennanmetcalf able to sleep above gear and not need a sleeping pad I guess. I like the sleep support from hammocks myself. Shouldn't need all the insulation as outdoors either.

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 15 днів тому

      @@CraigGrunenfelder I really want full sitting height in this for the solo sleep arrangement. I've been hammock camping for 20+ years, but I think it would make inside vehicle sleeping clunky. If you are hovering over stuff, it's going to be a minefield trying to get in and out.

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 15 днів тому

      Thanks for following along! I remember seeing a few people try 40s with no lift....but I also like a bit of uptravel ( 5-6" ) and good shocks these days too. I hope I can find a balance at a conservative lift height.

    Electrical tape has come in handy for me more than once. Putting an igniter in my furnace was hard because the screws go in from the bottom. I used tiny pieces of tape over the holes and pushed the screws in. It held them in place until i tightened them. It also works for drilling small holes in thin plexiglass. No cracks. Lol

    I was wondering if you have a suggestion or solution. For Buick odd fire with 1 bore intake manifold. I want to go to 2 barrel carb. I couldn’t find 2 bore intake manifold. Do you know how I can adapt 2 barrel carb to the one bore manifold?

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 16 днів тому

      You could probably, but it would choke the 2bbl down a lot and kill a few inches of overall height. Keep looking for a 2bbl intake, they are out there.

    I can get why you wouldn't sell the exhaust mock up bits at least for a printed part, but lord the existing product I could easily find is rather expensive... the cheapest kit I saw was like $800. That's a lot of money for like $50 worth of plastic, worth it for a hot rod shop, way too much for a hobbyist.

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 18 днів тому

      I believe the existing company selling the blocks has some IP protection on the idea. As I said, I'll help someone out with a custom set for a fair price if they ask, but I am not going to market them. They actually take a decent amount of time to print that can be used for my other products usually.

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 20 днів тому

      I'd love to do a flatty with an LV1/LV3, but to fit properly they would need a shorter ol pan ( available ), and a shorter car style Intake. Unfortunately, the only ones I have seen are custom cut down LT v8 units made from aluminum.

    Can you consider making the rango frame plates in a kit I’m sure many people will be interested in purchasing them save us a lot of time😅😅😅 rango has a huge fallowing

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf 20 днів тому

      I've looked at it a few times, shipping just the plates around seems to be ridiculously expensive vs. the cost of the plates. The cut file is posted in the Rango build thread. Having them done locally to you is going to be much more feasible.
